Welcome to City Brewed. We’re all about celebrating the life that happens over coffee: morning rituals, fresh-brewed inspiration, and taking a peek inside cafes near and far.

Why Sometimes, It's Necessary to Leave New York

Get Outta Town

"Discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes."

Have you ever heard that saying, "If you love someone, set them free?" Well, this post isn't really about someone, but something

No, I'm not leaving New York — not for long anyway. Like I mentioned before, the next week I'll be coming at you from the West Coast, but for now, I figured I'd muse over the idea of loving and leaving New York.

Loving and leaving New York seems like an oxymoron. Why leave something you love? Living in the city (and not leaving) for long periods of time can lend to hazy eyes. The streets you once loved seem dull, the cafés you once haunted no longer intriguing.

Which is why it's so important to take a step back from New York.

Leaving New York, be it for an afternoon, a day, or a week, allows you to come back with new eyes. Your café is back to being the place you once loved, and it may even inspire the idea of seeking out new coffee shops.

The streets seem brighter, the days longer and the city just a little bit more sparkly.

Come along for our west coast adventure in real time on Instagram and Twitter! Over the next few days, we'll be invading LA, Santa Barbara, San Diego and San Francisco. Who has coffee shop suggestions?
