Hiya!

Welcome to City Brewed. We’re all about celebrating the life that happens over coffee: morning rituals, fresh-brewed inspiration, and taking a peek inside cafes near and far.

sunday morning rituals

"The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours.  No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen.  And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot.  The possibility is always there." -Monica Baldwin

I used to hate Sundays. With the first rays of sunshine to fill my room, it was like an instant reminder that Monday was on its way. Monday, with all its responsibilities and early-morning commitments.

Although Mondays still aren’t my favorite, Sunday has captured a place in my heart for lazy rituals and renewed inspiration.

Here are some of my favorite weekend rituals to inspire your new week!

Enjoy a good ol cup o jo: Alright, you caught me. Sipping on a steaming cup of coffee is more of an everyday ritual, but hear me out. Waking up Sunday morning with a big stretch, you roll over to gaze out the window. The sun is beaming, and you have no responsibilities. Is there anything better than lying in bed, curled in your favorite comfy blanket sipping from your favorite mug?

A morning stroll: Weekdays leave little time for a leisurely stroll. In fact, since being back in New York, I’m not sure I’ve done anything “leisurely.” That being said, Sunday morning, when the cafés open slowly and New Yorkers are flocking to brunch, one of my favorite things to do is to head out on a long walk. Headphones in, I twist and turn down barely-occupied streets, falling in love with New York a bit more with each turn.

Be with yourself: Sometimes, it’s nice to just be with yourself. Take the time to lounge with your favorite book, watch the sun rise (if you can manage to yank yourself out of bed early enough). Reflect on happenings of the week, or sketch the little things inspiring you. Whatever it may be, take the time to be. Enjoy the time spent with yourself.

What are some of your favorite weekend morning rituals?
