“Life is what we make of it. Travel is the traveler. What we see isn't what we see but what we are.” ― Fernando Pessoa
Since jetting off to Portland last fall, I haven't been able to shake thoughts of early morning gloom, late afternoon food trucks and evening strolls along quaint boutique-lined streets. The word "escapism" is one I've thought a lot about recently—daydreaming all about simple towns and beautiful landscapes; fantasying about taking a journey through unfamiliar places. Isn’t that what travel is all about? Letting go of what’s tying you down and embracing the new, the scary, the not yet discovered?
Brittany Jesek, a Florida native who found her way to Portland, Oregon, is the lovely lady behind one of my favorite Instagram accounts as of late. She frequently posts photos of her travels, and has fueled a few of my Pacific Northwest revelries. After being a fan of her photographical style for some time now, I asked Brittany to participate in a little Instagram takeover, where she agreed to post must-see places in Portland (oh, the succulents).
