5 Reasons to Visit the New York Coffee Festival
Music lovers have Coachella, Ultra, and South by Southwest. Fashion fans get a full month to marvel over what’s new, what’s trending, and what’s overpriced. But coffee lovers? Coffee lovers get something even better: The New York Coffee Festival.
It’s that time of year again: from October 13th – 15th, hundreds of heavily caffeinated New Yorkers will gather for a weekend of tastings, workshops, and barista demonstrations from 85 coffee-industry insiders. That’s right, the New York Coffee Festival is back, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already planning my course of action.
Here are five reasons to buy your tickets, STAT.
1. Learn at the Lab
This year the New York Coffee Fest is hosting not one, but two lab sessions. That means double the speakers and double the buzz. Experience interactive demonstrations, workshops, talks, and tastings, including the latest industry trends, tips for setting up a coffee shop, the history of coffee, and more. Relax with a fresh cup and learn something new.
2. Get Your Grub On at the Street Food Market
With all that coffee, you’ll need some bites. Head to the Street Food Market and snack on foods from the likes of Bluestone Lane, The Commons Chelsea, and Curry Express. Don’t worry, avocado toast will be in the mix.
3. Experience Live Latte Art
Can you put my face on a latte? With the world’s best latte artists on the scene, chances are someone can (if not me, Ryan Gosling?) With the interactive sessions, visitors can take workshops and watch demos to learn how to wow house guests, or at least your Instagram feed.
4. First Coffee, then Cocktails
Too much coffee? Indulge with an espresso martini, instead. Just like a good cup of coffee, the perfect cocktail requires balance, relying on a delicate combination of flavors, aromas, and mouthfeel. Sip, snack, stay awhile.
5. Win a Linea Mini
Feeling lucky? La Marzocco is giving away a Linea Mini, worth $4,500, to one lucky person at the festival (choose me! choose me!). But hurry! You can only enter at the festival, so grab your tickets fast.
