Fig and brie pastries. Need I say more? There must be something wrong with me recently. Cooking? Who am I?! On Saturday, after our two hour long Leonardo DiCaprio fix (anyone else see Gatsby this weekend?), Kristen and I pulled out the big guns. And by big guns I mean our Pinterest board recipes. A few pastry bites, a bottle of vino, and Kristen's amazing dessert (think s'mores but better...) made for an amazingly relaxing night at home with a whole lot of girl talk and the Gatsby soundtrack on repeat.
If you happen to be hosting a girls night, give the brie and fig pastry recipe a try. Here's what you'll need:
2 sheets frozen, ready-made 9-inch pie crust, thawed but still cold
4 ounces brie cheese, cut into 1/4-by-1-inch pieces, cold
1 jar fig preserves
1 egg, beaten
Splash of milk
Don't forget your favorite bottle of wine. We opted for a Tarima Hill red, which was perfectly fruity to go with the figs.
