“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful. And don’t forget to make some art. And somewhere in the next year, I hope you surprise yourself.” – Neil Gaiman
This year has been pretty eventful, so say the least. There were ups, and there were downs, but mostly there was just a lot of coffee.
I’m writing this post from one of my favorite quaint cafes. Wrap around windows, extra-large latte cups and an assortment of delicious pastries are the way to my heart. Anyway, as I write this post, alternating between Groupon-ing fitness class packages and etching out goals for the new year, I can’t help but think how weird it is to reminisce over the past few months.
Every December, as we count down to the New Year, I make a little list of goals and wishes. Things I hope to accomplish, experiences I hope to have. Sometimes they’re far off (that Safari through Africa didn’t really play out). But sometimes, no matter how crazy, it somehow happens to come true.
This year, I took a road trip through California, learned to surf with my best friend (in New York, by the way), had a photoshoot with the amazing team at Refinery 29 and Timberland, ate my way through Portland, worked on countless photoshoots, soaked up the sun in Key West (one of my favorite vacation spots), and was in a Taxi TV ad for a StyleList x NMRKT NYFW Fashion Show.
City Brewed has served as many things throughout the past three years. It’s been a way to keep track of all my favorite coffee shops, a way to document my ever-changing style, but most of all it has been a diary of my life; A place to keep track of the ups and the downs.
I hope you all have a fantastic New Year!
